Gotland - The Viking Island.

Sweden's largest island Gotland offers a landscape like no other in the country - for me there is something magical about this island. Characterized by mild, almost Mediterranean climate, it is known for its rich flora and fauna as well as beautiful sandy beaches. However, the most amazing natural wonder on Gotland are the impressive limestone sea stacks (in Swedish "raukar") which form stunning fields of natural sculptures along the coastline.

Gotland's biggest town, Visby, is a true jewel of medieval history. Walking on the narrow cobblestone streets along the ruins of once great cathedrals makes you feel travelling back in time, when Visby town was once an important trading station of the Vikings and then the flourishing center of the Hanseatic League in the Baltic. Merchant's came to Visby from all over the world to trade goods and treasuries.
