Our Landscape Photography Tour in brief:

Far above the Arctic Circle in the very north of Norway, there is an Archipelago that has it all! Spectacular coastlines with jaw-dropping mountain peaks and crystal-clear waters, quaint fishing villages as well as deep fjords with breathtaking views.

The Lofoten Islands is truly a paradise for every landscape photographer. The combination between dramatic landscapes and constantly changing weather makes this place so unique! Winter gives the majestic landscapes of the Lofoten the extra little touch of beauty. The mountains are wrapped in a white robe of snow, the low sun gently illuminates the landscapes with a golden light and during the night, the magical Northern Lights are dancing at the sky.

For seven days (incl. six nights), we will embrace our creativity at the best photo locations on the Lofoten. You can be certain that we will find numerous photo opportunities at stunning places like the beaches of Vikten, Uttakleiv & Haukland, Ramberg, Nusfjord, Henningsvær as well as the iconic villages Reine & Hamnøy. We will also visit some of the lesser known locations that are for sure as photogenic as the more popular places.

In the middle of February, we will have more than 7 hours of daylight for our photography. That gives us plenty of time for photographing as well as other activities. The low sun provides great lighting and atmospheric colors in the sky almost throughout the entire day. In the twilight of the day, with a bit of luck, we may even encounter wild animals such as moose or sea eagles.

During the day, we have time to discuss the results of the shootings and to edit our photos together. I will show you my post processing workflow in Lightroom and how to enhance the effect of your photos fundamentally in just a few steps.

Together we will improve your photography skills and you will be able to create meaningful stories without any words - through photographs that speak for themselves. I make sure that you will have an unforgettable photography experience!

Disclaimer: Even if there are very good chances to get certain winter conditions and to experience the Northern Lights at the locations we are visiting, I cannot guarantee neither one nor the other. What you can be certain about is that I will do my very best to provide you an amazing experience even if we face difficult conditions!

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrival day

In the afternoon, all participants will be picked up from the airport in Leknes. Will go directly to our first holiday home close to Leknes. On this first day, we will get to know each other and I will give a short introduction about the manual camera settings and basics in landscape composition. We will also have dinner together, talk about the plans for the photo tour and share other important information. If time permits and conditions allow, we will head out on the search for northern lights or photograph the famous beaches at Haukland or Uttakleiv.

Days 2-6 - Exploring the beauty of the Lofoten Islands

On the next 5 days, we will explore and photograph the most scenic spots on the Lofoten Islands. This archipelago in the northernmost part of Norway is known for its impressive mountain ranges, its crystal-clear waters and picture-perfect fishing villages. The Lofoten are a true paradise for all nature lovers and photographers. In the evenings, we will head out on the chase of Northern Lights which can perform spectacular dance performances in the night sky. Imagine capturing these breathtaking moments with your camera!

Our accommodation will be two modern and cosy holiday homes which are both located close to some of the main photo spots. We will plan each day dependent on the weather, but be prepared to be outdoors from sunrise till sunset (and even after sunset for Northern Lights). There is a list of locations we want to visit during the trip, but we won't have a fixed itinerary to be able to give you the best possible experience. Of course I will be available for any questions during the whole trip!

On our last evening of the photo tour, we will have our farewell dinner together as a group and have the possibility to discuss your achievements of the trip.

Day 7 - Departure day

On the last day, we can use the morning for another photo shooting during sunrise. We will head back to Leknes after breakfast to be able to catch the airplane back home in the afternoon.

Be enchanted by the magical Northern Lights

The Lofoten offer excellent conditions to experience the magic of the Northern Lights. The archipelago is located 300km north of the Arctic Circle and is almost free from light pollution due to its remote location. Even when solar activity is low, the Lofoten promise impressive displays of Northern Lights at the night sky.

Discover the majestic Sea Eagles on a boat safari

You will have the chance to book an exciting Sea Eagle Safari (optionally). On this 2 hour adventure, you will have plenty of opportunities to watch and photograph the majestic sea eagles from a RIB boat.

This Sea Eagle Safari is optional, but I can highly recommend to book this tour.

Discover the Sámi culture and way of life

The northern part of Scandinavia is home to the Sámi, the indigenous people of Scandinavia. The Sámi settled the northern part of Europe more than 10,000 years ago. With their own language, diverse art and rich culture, the Sámi still shape north Scandinavia today. They are known for leading a sustainable, nature-loving life. Reindeer herding continues to shape the Sami lifestyle and is an important source of income. We will have the chance to learn more about the Sámi culture during this trip.

Travel time

February is the time of the year when the sun has returned to the Arctic region and is warming up the snow covered landscapes. The days are getting longer in high speed (almost 1 hour per week).

The middle of February represents an excellent time to see Northern Lights with statistically high geomagnetically activity. Beside this, the solar activity is predicted to stay on a high level during winter 2025/2026.
